Thanks for those, looks like it was the one we previously killed and couple more which ought to go easily.

Lets clean out temps and some other things with a proper tool, usually better than manual deletions.

    Download Atribunes ATF Cleaner
    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    • Tick the following boxes:
      • Windows Temp
      • Current User Temp
      • All User Temp
      • Cookies<<<---By deleting your cookies, you will have to re-enter any passwords and log-in info for any sites you are usually required to do so with.
      • Temporary Internet Files
      • History
      • Prefetch
      • Java Cache
    • Click the [Empty Selected] button.
We'll empty the Recycle Bin later, once we know you're all cleaned up and nothing needs to be restored.

Lets break out KillBox again, inserting the following file:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\yayyyaw.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\PIF
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\_ISTMPI.DIR\mmc32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\msi.dll

Reboot and run ComboFix first, then HJT and post both logs back into this thread.

Something is hiding here, we need some more info.

Open HJT, click the [None of the above, just start the program] button.
Then click the [Config] button in the lower right hand of the program.
Then select the [Misc Tools] button.
In the upper left hand side of the program tick the two boxes [List also minor sections (full)] button and the [List empty sections (complete)] and hit the [Generate StarupList log] button, select 'Yes' when prompted by the dialog box. The resultant scan will produce a notepad log file, please paste that log file back here for me to review.

 Grrr....seems in my frustration I made a little mistake. We need to revert the HijackThis executable back to 'hijackthis.exe' in order for the start up list to be generated properly, my mistake apologies for that.

Change the name back and run the start up list again.

Ok, that didn't really show anything more as I was hoping, so we'll use the advanced file deletion tool in VundoFix.

Double click the Vundofix.exe to run it.
    • Right click in the vundofix white window and click 'Add more files?'
    • Enter the following file path(s) to be deleted and click the [Add Files] button, then hit the [Close Window] button:
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\yayyyaw.dll

Click the [Remove Vundo] button and let Vundofix run.
Once it has run, reboot and post a fresh HJT log please.

Ok, that last log looks good, how is the machine performing now? Let me know.

We have just one line, a remnant to fix then we'll run HJT and CF again.

Run HJT, and place a check next to the following lines, then, with all browsers and windows closed, hit 'Fix checked':

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8561EF81-28B9-49B1-B1F2-7030E14CFCDC} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpq.dll (file missing)

Reboot and run ComboFix first, then HJT and post both logs back into this thread.

Ok, everything looks good how is the machine performing now??

When you say 'lag time', when exactly do you experience the lag?

    Hi,

TeMerc asked me to drop in because he will be away for a few days.
I have looked over your logs and there is a couple things I want a closer look at. Also some registry leftovers related to the flash infector you had we need to remove yet.

Copy the following text to a new notepad file.
    Save as file name fix.reg
    As file types: All files
    Save it to your desktop.

    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{314814e8-4224-11db-81f5-0012f0dc2420}]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{314814eb-4224-11db-81f5-0012f0dc2420}]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{697716f5-accb-11db-830e-0010c6c3f770}]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{697716f6-accb-11db-830e-0012f0dc2420}]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{697716f7-accb-11db-830e-0012f0dc2420}]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{bb1d0492-cb6b-11da-80b3-0012f0dc2420}]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\Standard Profile\AuthorizedApplications\List]
     "C:\\DOCUME~1\\Jean\\LOCALS~1\\Temp\\win2BE.tmp.exe "=-

Once saved; double click it and allow the merge.
Should get success messege. Let me know if success please.

What that did was remove a malicious program entry set to auto-allow through windows firewall and removed all references to the flash worm.
The legit entries I deleted will be re-built by windows automatically.

You can delete "fix.reg" when done.

Looking at a few reg keys.....
Couple uncommon malware load points I want to check and a couple funny looking services I want more info on.
This batch file will do this for me.

Create a new folder on the desktop.
Copy the contents of this next code box to Notepad.
    Name the file inspect.bat
    Save as Type: All files
Save in that new folder on the desktop.

Double click on inspect.bat and let it run.
When finished it will open a file in Notepad.
That file will be named check.txt
Please post the contents of check.txt into your next reply here.

    Code:
    cd %systemdrive%\
If not exist checkfiles MkDir checkfiles
    Regedit /a /e checkfiles\9.txt HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies
    Regedit /a /e checkfiles\10.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies
    regedit /a /e checkfiles\1.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\netm
    regedit /a /e checkfiles\2.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\dnscon
    regedit /a /e checkfiles\3.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetManager

    Copy checkfiles\*.txt = %systemdrive%\check.txt
    rmdir /s /q checkfiles
    Notepad %systemdrive%\check.txt

And I don't like to have anyone run away without running an online scan :)

Using Internet Explorer please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

    Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
    • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
    • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
    • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
      • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
        • Extended (If available otherwise Standard)
      • Scan Options:
        • Scan Archives
        • Scan Mail Bases
    • Click OK
    • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
    • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save report button.
    • Call it Kaspersky.txt
    • Expand the arrow beside "file types" and save as .txt file.
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

    *Note
It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans so no conflicts and to speed up scan time.
Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once scan is finished remember to re-enable resident antivirus protection along with whatever antispyware app you use.

    *Note2
If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed:
If you have trouble getting past the initial download you may need to use the "zoom" tool at bottom right of the scanner window and increase it to 125% to see and press the "accept" button.
Page will reload and you should be able to carry on scan.

    Thanks :)

    Hi,

Thanks for the logs. Still several infections present which is likely why internet connection is difficult.

Download this file to your desktop but don't run it yet:

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt.exe

Download this file to desktop but don't run it yet.

    http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/Flash_Disinfector.exe

Open Norton Antivirus and clean out his Quarentine then close Norton window.

Click start> run> type cmd.exe and hit enter.
Type the following commands exactly as you see them and hit enter after each line:

    Code:
    sc stop dnscon
    sc delete dnscon
    sc stop NetManager
    sc delete NetManager
    exit

You may get errors with the sc stop commands but should get success with the delete commands.

    • Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
    • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

      Code:
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\mstcpcon20.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\netmanage.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\netused.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\SR1000R.DLL
      C:\WINDOWS\temp\_ISTMPI.DIR\autorun.inf
      C:\Documents and Settings\Jean\My Documents\installers\BearShareV6.exe
      C:\Documents and Settings\Jean\Local Settings\Temp\Del145.tmp
      C:\Documents and Settings\Jean\Local Settings\Temp\Del17C.tmp
      C:\Documents and Settings\Jean\Local Settings\Temp\Del182.tmp
      C:\Documents and Settings\Jean\Local Settings\Temp\Del1B.tmp
      C:\Documents and Settings\Jean\Local Settings\Temp\Del1F.tmp

    • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved " window and choose Paste.
    • Click the red Moveit! button.
    • Copy everything on the Results window to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), save it to a new notepad file and copy/paste that log on your next reply.
    • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

    Once restarted.....

Hold down the Shift key and insert your flash drive.
It is important to hold the shift key while plugging in flash drive so the virus does not run and re-infect system.
Double click on Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it. Once done, you will be prompted. Click OK.

Repeat this step if you have more than one flash drives.

    Please post:

    OTMoveIT log
    New Hijackthis log
Run inspect.bat again and post the new c:\check.txt

Let me know how system is running and if you can access your drives properly.

    Thanks :)
