When logging on initially, i get the following information in a box" Get Processing File Name W could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL ". I just delete the box and am able to use the computer, but having to go through that step gets to be frustrating.

I am having a similar problem. Error window comes up everytime I click on the add to favourites icon in my tool bar.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- McAfee AutoUpdate:UpdaterUl.exe -Entry Point Not Found
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
X The procedure entry point GetImageFileNameW could not be located in the Dynamic Link Liabrary PSAPI.DLL.
    OK
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above text is what the error window looks like.

The window that allows you to pick where in the favourites you wish to place the website, appears behind the error message. I can click on it and drag it to allow me to pick where I want to save the site to. If I click ok to the error window & the add to favourites window both disappear. Most annoying.

I'm going to try the xp home edtion disc to see if this will replace the file that is missing. I fixed a similar problem concening PSAPI.DLL with help from a member on this site. I can't seem to find it now.

I think that it should fix your problem dave1938. Have you tried the run command
    sfc /scannow

This does a system file check, if something is wrong/missing it should ask for the disc to fix the problem.

Because my problem concerns McAfee I'm not sure how I will fix this. Can anyone help?

Please do a search for PSAPI.DLL and tell us the location of each instance found on your computer.

Are you both using the latest release of Internet Explorer 7?

    prophetofdoom,

    • Click Start>Run then type or paste regsvr32 /u psapi.dll
    • Rename the psapi.dll in C:\Program Files\blueyonderIST\SmartBridge to psapi.dll.old
    • Rename the psapi.dll in C:\Motive\AsstCommon to psapi.dll.old
    • Click Start>Run then type or paste regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\psapi.dll and hit enter. You should get a message that registering the file succeeded. Reboot and see if the problem persists.
    • If so, rename the psapi.dll in C:\Program Files\Network Associates\common Framework to psapi.dll.old, then run the regsvr32 commands again.

    'noahdfear' I tried the above regsvr32 run commands, both gave me the same error message;
'psapi.dll was loaded but the DllUnregisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered.'

I have Also noticed when I go to the tools icon in the browser bar I get error message about the entry point not found

This thread was started by dave1938 but dave1938 has not posted here since then. One may perceive this thread as "hijacked" by prophetofdoom.

prophetofdoom, even though dave1938's issue also apparently involves PSAPI.DLL, dave1938's issue may be be different. In the future, please remember to start your own thread for your own problem (even if it seems to be "the same ") or just simply follow the other person's thread for ideas without throwing questions about your own problem into the mix (which often leads to confusion).

dave1938, has your issue been solved with the information in this thread? (BTW, Welcome to Windows BBS! :))

If not, perhaps a moderator/administrator will split the thread if necessary so dave1938 isn't left in the dust without assistance.

Sorry I added a post today aimed at 'noahdfear'. I notice that my other post dated for weeks ago was also wrongly named it should have been thanks 'noahdfear'  I will fix this so it reads correct. (I had originally had Dave as the member I was talking to) @Mailman In my first post I suggested a fix that has helped me in the past, But with my current problem I have no such luck.

I ment no harm and thought, it would make it easier for site admin/mods because I try to find a simliar topic to my problem.

I have changed the members name from Dave to noahdfear the correct one in todays first post by me. The one 4 weeks ago however I can't change it (no edit option, must be due to the time it's been posted?)

I pasted my hijackthis report incase someone asked me to do it.

    McAfee PSAPI.DLL Error Message

Prophetofdoom - did you ever find a solution for this message that pops up when you try to save a site for Favorites?? I'm having the same problem and none of the recommendations from noahdfear worked for me either.

    Thanks!!
