   Certain desktop icons or shortcuts take forever to load after double clicking while some are instant. What do I do to rectify the problem. The icon or program in question is Comcast

   That thread does not address the problem.
   
   Dimwit1 - Welcome to the Board
   
   In all probability your icon cache is too small - download, unzip and merge the attached registry file.
   
   This will give you an option under Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View (at the bottom of the window) to increase the size of the icon cache.
