    Hi,
I just upgraded from Seamonkey 1.1.1 to 1.1.2. I am encountering a problem when trying to load any page from my bookmarks.
WHAT I CAN NO LONGER DO:
-Left click Bookmarks Menu, then select a bookmark for it to load in the current window. Nothing happens.
-Go into Manage Bookmarks and double-click a bookmark to load. Nothing happens.
-Left click on the bar above the main window and open a new tab. The drop down menu shows up but nothing happens when I select Open In New Window or Open In New Tab.
-Right or left click on the lower right corner Scripts Icon to allow scripts for the web page shown. The pointing hand shows but no menu shows up when I click.
    WHAT I CAN STILL DO:
-Load web pages from an email in separate tabs as I did before.
-Copy a url from my bookmarks properties and load it into the current window address bar and load the web page when I hit enter.
-Right click a link from a displayed web page to open in a new tab.

I tested Firefox and Internet Explorer and they work fine so I know that it is a Seamonkey problem.

I would appreciate any help in rectifying this.:(

    Welcome to the Form, njb!

    njb,

    Try this:

    With SeaMonkey closed:
Locate your SeaMonkey profile name folder, and then rename your bookmarks.html file to Xbookmarks.html:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.profilename

    Next:
Copy the Firefox bookmarks.html file, and paste it into the SeaMonkey profile name folder here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.profilename

    Does this work?

Thank you for responding so quickly, Ramona:)

I was a little unclear on your second step, since my Seamonkey profile name folder is not located at C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.profilename.

I assumed that you meant to say "...profile name folder *from* here:" instead of "...profile name folder here:" at the end of the second step. So I copied the Firefox bookmark file from the Firefox profile into my Seamonkey profile at C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.profilename and the same old Seamonkey bookmarks showed up after opening Seamonkey, instead of the Firefox bookmarks, which was confusing.

I tried using your instructions again by swithching to another Seamonkey profile that I had. This time, the Firefox bookmarks DID show up. So I tested them and the same problem exists, so it looks like it may be happening from within Seamonkey. Any further help would be appreciated.

I can imagine it was confusing, and I have corrected the location. Considering that a different set of Bookmarks shows the same behavior, it would appear that it isn't a corrupt bookmark.html file. This is certainly unusual, and I will have to get back to you a little later in the day, as I am getting ready to leave now for an appointment, and errands. It will probably be evening, so hang in...

I reported some problems at another newsgroup, but no one confirmed them.
Basically, if I try to open a site from the bookmarks, it will open, but the URL box will maintain the previous URL. And this true of Tabs, which I have in Seamonkey. As an example, my first tab is slate.com, and if I select from the bookmarks this site, it will load fine, but the URL will remain slate.com, and there will be back arrow. I thought that it may be related to the theme which I am using, and reported to the author. He replied that all Themes, including the default themes do the same, and was able to confirm it.
Since I had installed 1.1.2 on top of 1.1.1, I uninstalled it, and then reinstalled to no avail. Most interesting is the situation with SM1.0.9, which misbehaves similarly with the two "foreign" Themes and the Modern Theme, but did not with the Classic Theme. Since I don't use either Seamonkey very much, the issue may have been present with 1.1.1 and 1.0.8, but did not come up. But something is odd, and the author of the Themes is looking into it. By the way, his Themes are based on the Modern Theme, and he had the same problem when he created a new profile. I have to check mozillazine.org, where I also, posted.

I read more carefully your original post, and I can see that you have a bad case.
I can load with no problem anything from the personal bookmarks, but just now I noticed that there was nothing in the URL box.
I don't understand what is in the bottom right, as I don't have anything involving scripts. Only, online/offline, security info, and and icon related to the IE Tab extention.

I was going to post a screenshot for you to see the "S" in my lower right corner, Westside, but this board does not allow me to. It is an add on utility that blocks scripts unless you specifically allow it for a site. You can see it here, and it shows a screenshot of what I am talking about:

    njb,

    From the NoScript FAQ:
Let us know if reinstalling NoScript sorts out your problem.

Thanks, Ramona. Noscripts is up and running again after I had it re-installed from the Mozilla website link:D

Now on to trying to fix the bookmarks glitch. Any suggestions?

    njb,

I hoped that NoScripts was the problem... Did you install on top of the existing program, or do a clean install?

Do you have 1.1.1? I would uninstall 1.1.2, and then install 1.1.1, if things go back to normal. There is a definite problem with 1.1.2. At this point, i am not prepared to reinstall 1.1.1, but I may do it, tomorrow, if you don't solve the problem. There is an outside chance that creating another profile may help, but it did not help my problems.

    njb,

I would do a clean install then.

Download Ver. 1.1.1, Full Install, or Zip file here:
    http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/releases/1.1.1.html

    Uninstall SeaMonkey, using Add/Remove
(This will have no effect on your Profile)

    Next:
Delete the SeaMonkey Program folder here:
    C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\SeaMonkey
If you have installed plugins, save the plugins folder to a temporary location before deleting the Program folder

    REBOOT YOUR PC

Now install, or unzip Ver. 1.1.1, and see if your bookmarks are working properly.

I would try to create a new profile.
FYI, I uninstalled 1.1.2, and deleted all folders, except for plugins.
I kept the same profile. Then I installed 1.1.1, and my problem was gone.

Ok, I created a new profile called "test" and loaded it and the bookmarks inside this new profile work. I also installed Seamonkey 1.1.2 over the installation and the bookmarks still work, which is very encouraging.

    UPDATE:
I opened the old bookmark file and it now works fine. I also tried switching to the profile where the problem arose originally and now those bookmarks work. Very confusing as to what may have gone wrong. The trick was creating a new profile and then working backwards from there.

Thank you both for your help:), and hopfully this will help anyone else out who encounters this same problem.

Man! I would have given up before you did. I was seeing similarities with my problem, but it must have been some other gremlin. Great Job!
