    Hello mario,

You lost that particular access path in the Control Panel and I'm not aware of any way to get it back without doing a repair of the OS - not worth the doing.

Another way to access Disk Management: right click My Computer > Manage.

    Regards - Charles

in fact I have just done (yesterday) a repair installation since the computer was freezing and after rebooting I get a system error and freezing again. The freezing problem was resolved. When I go to control panel, administrative tools and computer management I get the computer management window where I have listed:
    Computer management (local)
    Systems tools
    Event viewer
    Shared folders
    local users and group
    performance logs jand alerts
    device manager
storage (when clicked I get "There are no items to show in this view ")
    services and applications

but here is no "disk management" listed:confused:

    Ok, then try:

    Sfc [/Scannow] [/Scanonce] [/Scanboot] [/Revert] [/Purgecache] [/Cachesize=x]

/Scannow: Scans all protected system files immediately and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. This command may require access to the Windows installation source files
    .

Start > Run > cmd sfc /scannow and have your XP install disc at hand. There is a space between sfc and /

The process is "silent ", to see what was replaced, if anything, right click My Computer > manage, expand event viewer > system.

    Regards - Charles

sfc /scannow has just finished, the event viewer did show that some files where changed but unfortunatly disk management is still mnissing from the computer management window. Well it seems that if I ever need the disk management utility I have to run diskmgmt.msc. Thanks for your help.

    regards,
