    Hello everyone!
This is my first post on this forum so I hope you will help me solving my problem.

    My pc configuration is:
    Elitegroup 848P-A Ver.2.0 Motherboard
    Pixelview NV17S graphics card
    Intel Celeron 2.0GHz Processor
    256mb PC2100 ram
    WD 80gb hard disc

I have problem using the drivers of NVidia. When I installed the latest drivers, my pc started normally but it could not load the windows OS.

I tried to boot in safe mode, safe mode with networking, vga mode etc but without any result. The pc was freezing some seconds after the windows logo appeared on my monitor.

I tried to start my pc on debugging mode. My pc halted when it tried to load "agp440.sys ".
I visited the Microsoft site for some help.
Using the recovery console, I deactivated the 'agp440.sys' so that it would not load on startup, but still the pc would freeze.

I ran a chkdsk/r but without any results.
Now my pc halts when it tries to load the "TDI.sys" file.

Can anyone help me with that problem?

Thanks a lot for your time and assistance.
    Kind regards
    Nikolas

Nikolsa - Welcome to the Board :)

As you cannot boot into Safe Mode running System Restore is not possible - can't be run from the Recovery Console, so I think your best option is a Repair install of XP.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
My question is... if i do a repair install of Windows XP will my files be deleted?
My main concern is not to lose them...

Is there any other idea on what's the problem?
    Thanks in advance!
    :)

User files shouldn't be lost, but your settings, software installs, MS Updates, and AV updates are going to have to be re done.

    Follow this guide:
    http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Drive Imaging is a very good investment, just for this sort of situation.

Look into Symantec's Ghost, Acronis True Image, or BootIt.

Acronis has a public forum here http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php

You should also think about creating another partition for your data and get the data off the OS's partition. You wouldn't have to worry about losing the data in case of repairs/re ininstalls.

    Regards - Charles
