I've spent way to much time trying to find this answer..... We have two offices.... each has a domain... in XP when you mapped network drives the other office showed up and I had access to their server to map drives.... now w/ Vista I can't figure out how to connect to the other office's server..... It doesn't show up in the list of computers like it does w/ XP.... how can i get mapped to the other office???... I can ping the server in the other office and i get a reply... When i go to map a network drive I get as far as the Browse for folder and only see my computer and one other computer... I can not see any other pcs in the office....

When i go into Network Map I get the following message and this may be the whole key....

Network mapping is disabled by default on domain networks. Your network administrator can use group policy to enable mapping.

If network mapping is disable how can XP machines map drives and see all the other computers on the network?

home office is the main server (handles email) is Windows Server 2003....we are a VPN.....remote server is Windows 2000.....and it is a mixed OS environment.....Vista, XP, and Windows 2000 and two NT machines....

    TIA!!

If you know your share name you are trying to map. Open your computer icon (formally my computer), click on Tools Menu, then Click on Map drive. Select a drive letter, then type in the UNC path.
    such as

    \\server\share

Check the subnet mask and workgroup settings.

I tried doing the UNC path and something new happened.....I typed in the server name and a folder I thought was on there to see if it would connect....now the whole network here comes up and i see every computer at this office and before it would only let me see my computer and one other....but i still can't see the server in the other office????
