    Hi,
Yesterday, FF updated but then I couldn't browse the internet. Fiddled with my firewall but still couldn't browse. So, I did a system restore and was able to browse again.

So, this morning I got a pop up saying updates avaiable. Checked the version of FF and its 2.0.0.4 rev 1.8.1.3 So, I updated. It said partial updated failed will download full version of FF. So, I have done this 3 times this morning. After the full DL it will prompt me saying updates avaible. Urgh

    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Heath

Not sure what it means. I have had problems with incremental updates of the nightlies, but as far as stable versions go, I, usually, am too impatient, and get the full download. And, have had no problem. I started with v.2.0.0.3, and I have 2.0.0.4, now, and updates available. By the way v.1.8.1.3 is that of 2.0.0.3. FF2.0.0.4 should be 1.8.1.4.
I would go to the Add/Remove, and see what is there. And, uninstall no matter what. System Restore may have restored the previous version, and who knows what a mess you have.

    Heath,

Do an uninstall of Firefox through Add/Remove
Delete the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder

    If you have installed plugins:
Save the plugins folder first, then replace the pristine plugins folder with the backup copy

    Reboot your PC

Download the full install from this site: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Once installed then disable the automatic check for update option here:
    Tools | Options | Advanced | Update

    It is all screwy...

Thanks for replying. I hope those suggestions work. Will try in a few after doing some online reading.

Went to Mozilla and read a few things nothing helped me but I thought I might as well post the article here cause it might help some one else.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Updates_reported_when_running_newest_version

I tried both ideas and neither worked.(in above article) I did do a "install" on top of the old version but then I couldn't browse the internet even after correcting my firewall, shuting down firewall, shutting down trendmicro internet suite. All a no go!

This is weird. After my system restore 5 min ago. I connected the tab poped up saying update succesfull to 2.0.0.3
But if I go to help/about mozilla/ it says its version 2.0.0.4
    in add/remove it says 2.0.0.3

I'll get back and let you know how your suggestions go Ramona and Westside, thanks
    Heath

    vsmon.exe is killing meeee...

what a waste of 3 hours.
To make a long story short, I had used Zonealarm until about 3 months ago. Been using the firewall in Pc cillian internet suite.
ZA wasn't even loading at start up but there was a vsmon.exe in Task Manager. I tried ending the process but it would fail, so I started up Zonealarm, clicked on FF and allowed it acces to the internet and now it works.

Not only a waste of time, but now I feel "dirty" cause of all the system restores

As for the endless update loop Uninstalling the old FF and DL a fresh copy did the trick.

    Thanks

Thanks for posting your solutions, and glad to hear that the clean install did the trick for the update loop.

Firewalls can be a necessary evil at times, but thank goodness for them.
