If you have a previous version of Mozilla/SeaMonkey installed

Before installing a new version of Mozilla/SeaMonkey, you should uninstall your previous version first. If you have a third-party extension installed, particularly the spell checker, you should also completely delete your Mozilla/SeaMonkey install directory before making a new install. Do not install over an old Mozilla/SeaMonkey version.

Following the uninstall instructions in this document should not affect your profile data (unless your profile files are in a custom location).

I did not do the above, and had no problem. I am not saying that I am recommending in any way, but Seamonkey will uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. As for the extentions, I let Seamonkey uninstall them, and, then I reinstalled them. I needed to do this with only three extentions, so, overall, it was easier to do it the quick way, as long as you follow their lead.
