I've been a Thinkpad user and reseller for 10 years and I simply love 'em. ;)

I just got a crazy deal on a T60, or so I thought. What first looked strange to me was the fact that the video card was different, and apparently WAY BETTER, than the one that comes up when I put the model and type # in on lenovo.com. I have the ATI FireGL V5200 instead of the ATI Radeon X1300.

The type and model # is a 2623-D3U. Here are the specs:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/quickPath.do?quickPathEntry=2623D3U

But again, my system does NOT have an ATI Radeon X1400 as lenovo's site suggests.

I'm running both XP and Vista, and they both show a staggering 512MB of video memory, and looking at it a little more closely, it says that 256MB are "shared ".

The ThinkVantage button pressed, I click on System Information and then Advanced and it even said somewhere that it's a "Thinkpad T60p ". Wow, I thought. The seller said that the system board had recently been replaced, and the computer HAS to be fairly new as there is the sticker for Windows XP that says "Vista capable" at the bottom. Also, the warranty is good until the latter part of 2009.

Is there any other way to find out what's what?

    Thanks for any replies. :)

Maybe you have already been there.

If you go to Lenovo -> Support & Downloads -> How do I find a product number -> Automatically detect this system's machine type/model, it may give you information about the changes from the original configuration.

Lenovo/IBM have great information about their machines, but you need to spend a little time running keywords through their search engine. Information may be linked to a specific model, a series, or could be included in general information or very specific information like "white papers ".

Awesome tool. Thank you. One thing I am still perplexed about isas to whether or not I have an EVDO (Verizon) or HSDPA (AT&T/Cingular) Sierra card onboard. (see links below)

I use Belarc, and it says HSDPA, and earlier today, I ran PC-Doctor 5 and it also recognized my card as an HSDPA card.

Additionally, when I went through my files, I noticed the Sierra Wireless folder (see below) and it also suggests it is an HSDPA card as it says there is a folder named "GSM Watcher" to the right. GSM and UMTS/HSDPA are, of course, used by AT&T, whereas Verizon and Sprint use EVDO. (see links below)

Any ideas??? Where should the SIM slot be if it is indeed an HSDPA card. Thanks again everyone! :)
