As mentioned in previous post I got WSUS set up on SBS. I have told it to include updates for OS/Apps that I use or plan to use. The updates for my XP clients are about 70 or so, but lots of are updates of updates. eg 5 updates for Outlook Junk Mail Filter, 4 have been superceeded and latest update one remains.

It asks me to check if these updates are needed by clients as they have been superceded. I want to know if I should just accept/install all these updates or just accept/install the latest one, and decline the rest.

Is there anyway that WSUS can only show the latest update?

Any advice would be a big help as I am new to WSUS.

WSUS is on my list as something I should install, but haven't got round to. However, I do know that the ability to pick and choose which updates are offered to the client PCs is one of the features of WSUS and even one of the main reasons for using it. That is it lets you decide which updates are distributed to the client PCs on your network, and also allows you to delay roll-out until you've check that the updates are OK should you wish to do so.

take the plunge ReggieB, I installed it last week, make sure you get WSUS 3.0 and dont do what I did by installing WSUS 2.0 first (this was because the install files been there since October waiting to be installed and I didn't check for an updated version). Being able to choose the updates are offered to the client PCs is main reasons for why I am using it and I think it should be installed and setup by default on SBS (Win2003). Its great that users are not hassled to update, or have to ask if they should install something.

Looked in the options and can't find it or any advice about updates that have been superceded so still not sure whether just to approve them all or just the latest one? :-S
