    Hi everyone,

I’ve got a problem with a pc and I’d love to get an answer, anyway here is the problem:

When I load up the pc, windows won’t load up, I pressed F8 and got the command list, I tried safe mode and last good configuration, it looked like it’s going to startup but then it restarts the pc.

When I’m trying to start windows normally I get this message which is followed by bunch of errors (*.sys files):

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)

I’m using windows XP pro edition, as far as I know the problem is caused by the motherboard, I’m using a Intel motherboard (2 years old), and 2 hard disks (sata), the computer worked fine until today, a similar problem occurred a few months ago it was fixed after changing something in the bios configuration (I didn’t fixed it back then).

I entered into the bios setup and saw that the hard disk has an auto standard but there is a message which says "not detectedâ€

I would love to get an answer,

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi orenmj23,

What you describe is often due to a hardware failure.

If you're comfortable inside the box, check the data cables and the power cables going to the hard drives. See that they are fully seated. Sometime it helps to unplug and replug them (both ends).

If no joy after that, go to the manufacturers site and get the diagnostic software for your particular drive. Run it to verify the drive integrity or point out the problem.

    Hard Drive Diagnostics

Check the setting in the BIOS so they match your drive types. If in doubt, replace the backup battery and reset the values to default settings. Check your manual for any specific settings that may be required.

If still no joy, you may indeed have a bum MOBO.
