hi,
im having a bit of trouble as to why some computers would prompt for the administrator password to use a usb key.

the message is found here...in this case, it is trying to open files from an iPod.

this is not the same on other computers, which i can say all have the same image (syspreped) and the user is the same (standard user on a roaming profile).

my question is, could it be something that can be solved locally or on AD?.....

any suggestions?

 ...oh.
well it brings up a window:

----------------------------
Found new hardware
----------------------------

You must be a member of the Administrators group on this computer to install this hardware:
iPod

Username: ______________
Password: _______________

OK Cancel

-----------------------------

when i log on administrator, it brings up the add new hardware wizard.
confused as to why this is and why it only happens on some computers.#

on the computers that do allow me to use a usb drive fine i have noticed that under the Plug and play software device enumerator properties> driver that the digital signer is microsoft windows publisher.

on the computers that do have the problem, under the same place it says Not Digitally signed.

im hoping this is the problem. im assuming it can be fixed using the recovery console?...could i be wrong?

ps. i have snapshots but still dont see where to ADD attachemnt..!

Hi, aPod. :)
I think one must have a Windows BBS subscription to be able to attach files to Windows BBS forum posts.

An alternative is to upload your images to an external site and then link to them in your forum post. It is preferable to place your images at a location that does not require people to register before viewing your images. (As Steve seems to have implied above, I suspect many people will not register at a site just to view a Windows BBS poster's image files.)
