    Hi,

I have a Blackout Buster UPS that I use as a power backup for my PC. Model is B6U2. I've been using it for at least 5-6 years. I have my main PC and my modem plugged into the UPS. Recently, I've noticed that when I have a power outage, my PC shuts off immediately, even though it's plugged into the UPS. The modem does stay powered up. I use MonUPS software to monitor it. It says that the power status and battery status of the Blackout Buster is normal.

It seems as if there isn't enough power to keep my PC running. Considering the age of it, could it be time for a replacement? Does anyone know the lifespan of these things?

If I do need a replacement, is there a procedure for disposing of the old one?

    Thanks!

That is just about how long I got out of my BlackoutBuster. From their FAQ.
    http://www.powerkinetics.com.my/welcome3.htm
    Is the battery user replaceable?
PowerKinetics decided not to install user replaceable batteries into the BlackoutBuster. Instead we chose to take the burden of battery replacement off of the customer and put it where it belongs, on the manufacturer. We offer a two-year warranty on our BlackoutBuster. This warranty covers the battery as well as the UPS. Should the battery or any other component within the BlackoutBuster fail within the first two years, as described in the BlackoutBuster warranty statement, PowerKinetics will replace the unit at no charge after examination and subject to shipping cost.
I just bought a UPS that was on sale. As for the old one the city which I live in has a drop off place that takes old computers, batteries and other things they do not want in the city dump.
