Hi,I like to create a winxp boot cd using BARTPE without a WinXp cd, my HP computer came with a recovery cd, so i like to find the location of my installation files. Can you tell me where they are?

I have never been able to create the BartPE using any OEM disk or the i386 folder they provide. For some reason, it doesn't copy all of the files. The same ones are missing each time and the five warning messages that the BartPE creator software renders are:

Warning: Using an OEM disk can lead to trouble...
    Warning: File "iastor.sys" not found
    Warning: File "a320raid.sys" not found
    Warning: File "aac.sys" not found
    Warning: File "aarich.sys" not found

All of those files are in the i386 folder but for some reason they don't get copied to the iso file.

The CD won't boot and issues an error message that "iastor.sys is not found" and offers no option except to reboot.

    Good luck with your efforts.

Gaston, It sounds like your BartPE CD is doing its job. As I said, I don't have the ability to build one, given the files that HP made available on this machine.

Even so, I will tell you what I think about what the boot CD can do for you. For the most part, it is able to give you full read/write capability to the files on your HD. That makes the NTFS files editable from a command line. You will need to know what to edit and how to do it. The boot CD doesn't have any new tools and may not have all of the old tools you are familiar with. You can add whatever tools you like during the Boot CD build process.

Perhaps someone who has used one will chime in and verify or refute what I have stated.

Having the BartPE installation working is the great thing.

Now, with the BartPE, you can create the Kaspersky Rescue CD - the very usefull tool to scan for and remove all sorts of malware - rootkits inclusive.

I do have KRCD, it did help me several times.

The main thing about KRCD is that it is 100% legit to be built from an evaluation KAV installation, i.e. - free of charge.
Even after the evaluation expiry date the KRCD will successfully update it's signature database and scan|remove malware.

A very recommended thing to have, indeed.
