Have you backed up this message any where? :D

For tight arses like me, may I recommend Cobain backup and an external harddrive for home use.

For small businesses on a tight budget, Backup Assist and the biggest DAT tape drive you can afford. Add to that enabling shadow copy on your Windows 2003 file servers and you'll have the bases covered.

It's so easily done. I had the raid controller go on a server at work just after Christmas. I thought I had everything backed up, but there was one system I'd missed out of the backup schedule when moving things around a few months before. AHHHH!!!!. Fortunately we could rebuild from elsewhere, but it wasn't one of my finest IT performances.

Check this out - one of our guys in our Russia satellite store (yes, Russia!) lost his laptop earlier this week. Someone walked into the store, and stole it - docking station and all! We had sent a replacement laptop for another associate, and it go re-allocated to this fellow.

Here's the cool part. He has a external hard drive, that he does back ups to occasionally. He actually HAD COMPLETED a backup a mere 3 DAYS before his laptop was heisted.

And he still had the hard drive after the laptop was swiped.

He didn't want to let that little hard drive out of his sight!! :D
