    Hi Guys,

A mac user here, trying to help my sisters boyfriend upgrade the RAM in his HP Pavilion 7915. In Windows XP how do I tell how big the DIMM's are in each of the 7915's two memory slots? (I don't have easy access to the computer to "poke around "...trying to help this guy by email)

    Thanks!
    Jeff

Would you guys suggest "Computer Profiler 2.5.1" from KarenWare?
    http://www.download.com/Computer-Profiler/3000-2086_4-10255201.html

....I am looking for something similar to Apples System Profiler. Searching the net this looks like a similar app. Can anyone tell me if this app reports the size of the DIMM's in the memory slots? It looks like a safe freeware app to use...

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Download Everest and look under Motherboard > SPD and full details of the modules should be shown - screenshot.

    Thanks guys.

Question: This guy is running XP with SP2 with 256MB of RAM. But he says its slow (I know this is an older machine...). Would upgrading to 512MB of RAM help much? He doesnt do a lot with the computer, mostly web browsing and email. He's thinking of buying a new computer but if just upgrading the RAM for maybe $30 would help he'd do that instead. What would you guys suggest?

(he's also concerned he may have some viruses and that may slowing things down, even though the anto-virus software he has sees none....although this could be out of date also)

    Thanks,
    Jeff
