I have a shutdown problem with Outlook 2000 on my Windows XP machine. When I close the application, it appears to close normally but then about 15 - 20 seconds later, I get an error message that it had problems terminating (I finally turned off the error reporting feature for Outlook.exe because it got so annoying). At other times, it appears to close but when I check the process list, it's still running and I have to kill it. I've searched the MS knowledge base with no luck. Note: I bit the bullet and did a clean install of Winows XP rather than an upgrade (from Windows ME) and endured the torture of the Office 2000 install again plus the service packs. The other Office apps including Outlook work fine and all shutdown okay, except for Outlook. Any ideas what to look at or do next?

What Office SP are you running?

Also, I know that Norton AV with the Office plug-in running did some odd things on older versions. Not sure if NAV2002 has cured them all or not. Probably similar issues with other AV packages too.

I'm on SP1 and also have NAV2002 running. I will try turning off the plugin to test that. Thanks
