Mozilla is my browser of choice and has been fine for a couple of years now. Recently,I seem to be getting the 'Alert' message "Cannot find (say) Google.Com or Windowsbbs.com" please check name. After a number of tries, up to 6 or 8, it usually finds whe website and logs on but not always, is this a trojan or a problem with Firefox

    HI bg9208,

IMHO, it's a problem with the ISP (internet service provider) if you can rule out a typographical error, or a bad connection line.

    bg9208,

Also delete your Cache, and do a general mainenance on the browser. It never hurts to check the basics... :)

Not quite the same thing, I know - but there is a kind of bug (already reported on Mozilla forums) with recent releases of the Fx 2.0.0.x series, which causes links to a URL in, say, a mail program (in my case Mailwasher Pro and Thunderbird) to fire up a Windows 'report' that the link target cannot be found, when, in fact, Firefox does, indeed, get fired up and does, indeed, find the link. This does not happen if Firefox is already running. It is default browser. There is a workaround published - but it has to be implemented every time you download a new Firefox update. Currently, nobody wants to own this bug, which does not, apparently, affect everyone... so it is not scheduled for a fix.

    Apologies for hijacking a thread...
