Windows Vista VISTA updates [Definition Update for Windows Defender]

    Hi

    Through online automatic windows update programe, recently received following upgrade defenition;

    Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.17.2528.1)

    Download size: 348 KB

    Update type: Important

    Install this update to revise the definition files used to detect spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.

    But i coudnt find any details of defenition, other than a general info published in 2006 about defender!
    Please help me to know, is it important to update "Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.17.2528.1)" to the system?

    Yes it is .....

    Defenders antispyware, etc definitions must always be kept up to date as this is the data to which Defender refers to in monitoring and checking your system - in exactly the same way as your antivirus program requires the latest definitions to protect you from the latest viruses.
