    Until recently I had a recon Netgear DG834G router which ran fine til it just stopped connecting the wireless, so I decided to splash the cash on a Belkin N1 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router. I've got the LAN working but I can't get the wireless to show up.

    I've tried with wep, no wep, different but still nothing. I searched around here and found Network Stumbler and it found the wireless but windows can't.

    Any ideas coz all I want to do is connect my phone to the wireless and it's driving me mad :(

    After hours I finally got the wireless to work on my laptop but it took til sometime this morning. And you'll never guess what, the phone worked 1st time but only when I'm at next to the router. But gives wlan error if I move :(

    Hello again,

    Still having problems with WLAN. The wired network is fine apart the odd crash, which I can cope with but whatever I try I can't get the wireless to work.

    I've put it on Auto Channel, most of the channels but only got a linkup on CH6 but it went when I tried to connect. Next I tried using N, b & g then b & g then one at a time - still nothing.

    Here's some info that might help :-

    * Connection via PPPoA (works fine)
    * IP Address : 192.168.2.1
    * Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
    * DHCP : On (but tried with off too)
    * NAT : On
    * PnP : Off (but tried with on too)
    * Default Gateway (Internet Settings) : 195.166.128.123
    * DNS Servers : 212.159.6.9 & 212.159.6.10 (also used 192.168.2.1)

    Then there are some MAC addresses that I don't think are required.

    Now a bit I'm a bit confused about. I thought the router had an access point already and that's how wireless works (well my PSP used to find one)?!

    I tried this a few times and got the wireless connecting a few times but no connection to the internet :(

    Does this explain better? Any ideas? ;)

    I think the reason you are getting no response is that there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with your configuration.

    Is this still the case?

    Is the wireless phone your only wireless device?

    If the answer to both is yes, I think you have to be looking at a hardware problem. Signal strength or signal reception at the handset isn't what it should be. I'd guess faulty hardware, but if you have external antennae on the router it would be worth checking they are attached properly.

    My phone isn't the only device mate, I have a laptop and that doesn't find it either (well most of the time). I can see it sometimes with Netstumbler but when I try to connect, it just vanishes.

    I've got a new router as I said, Belkin N1 so I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or wifi. I had it working perfectly a few weeks ago then it suddenly stopping finding the router.

    Are the settings and info about the Access Point right mate? I'm getting sick of having to plug my laptop to a cable when I've got wireless.

    Thanx again ;)

    Just a thought.
    Make sure you’re setting the wireless settings NOT the settings for your wired lan.

    There IS a difference.

    I wasn't aware that you could set them both the same.

    I had the d@mn thing working about 25 mins ago then the router crashed (stopped connecting to the net via the wired LAN). I reset the router and it lost all it's settings, again. :(

    Then when I tried to restore previous settings, nothing happens so I reinputted all the settings and it seems to have held them this time. Sadly the wireless suddenly doesn't work again. Then 5 mins later it's back again but this time it says that the security is WEP but I've set it up as WPA-PSK(no server). See this image...

    I think I found out why it wasn't working properly before, my mate next door has a digisender (Sky to another room via rf) - turned it off and WLAN came back.

    Despite all this even when it was working the is a problem with accessing the wireless - I have tried to connect my N93 phone and PSP without success. Both find the SSID and ask for the WPA code but as soon as you do, it says "access point/WLAN not found ".

    Any ideas of that? Or the other problem I have? Thanx ;)
