Using IE6 & Win XP Pro. Occasionally get pages that do not open completely. Sometimes get a red "x" in a square box in a few parts of the page. They don't appear to be links but .

Is the problem my settings in Internet Options - Advanced? Suggestions?

You have not told us exactly when this happens. I suspect that it occurs when you are trying to download an exe file download.

Your description of the box with the red "X" makes me think it is this.

Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows, versions 5.5 SP2 and 6.0 no longer support Netscape-style plug-ins, such as the plug-in installed as part of QuickTime 5.0.2 and earlier versions. Consequently, Windows customers using these versions of Explorer may be unable to view QuickTime content in the browser. Mac users and Netscape users are unaffected,

To restore compatibility, Apple has provided an ActiveX control. Please visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/qtcheck/ where you will be prompted to download and install this control if you do not already have it.

    buzzmag...
I have had this before. It is caused by options selected to not view pictures in pages. The squares with the red x's are where the pictures would be. In your advanced options/multimedia is the show pictures box unchecked?

Also if you have Security settings set in internet zone to custom level with all the options set to disabled, the page will show all white and the status bar at the bottom will say Done. Just add the site you are trying to see to your trusted site list. Then it will all show. You just have to copy the whatever.com in the address to the trusted site list.
