I have a duel boot system with WinXP and Win98se. When I shut down with Win98se the computer powers down. When I shut down from WinXP I get the "It is now safe to turn off the computer..." screen. Is this normal? How can I get the computer power down by itself? I upgraded the machine from Win98se. I first only had WinXP on it and the same thing happened. I have used both FAT32 and NTFS file system with no luck. It is really annoying.

Thanks. I was able to figure it out from the link you gave me. Leave it to MS to change it so that you have to have the settings a certain way to shut down the system when an earlier OS did it without a problem.
