Well isn't this strange....

I have one problem and one "strange" occourence...

1) When I use IE to check my hotmail account, it simply doesn't work. It brings up the login page and then 'hangs' on "waiting for reply." This ONLY happens with my XP/IE combo. When I use my 98 box, or when I use Netscrape Aggrivator, it works just fine.. It's only the XP/IE combo that makes hotmail hang.. Anyone else suffering from this strange problem?

2) I NEVER use NetMeeting. I have no need for it, and no reason to keep the program on my computer. I tried deleting it. XP will not let me! (I even went to c:\program files\NetMeeting, and tried deleting all the files.. The files disappeared from the window, to the recycle bin. I emptied the recycle bin and in a few seconds, the files re-appeared in the \netmeeting directory!!)
-No, I'm not kidding!! After I deleted all the files in the directory, XP decided to 'put them back' !!! Does anyone else know what's going on?

System File Protection is the reason they won't stay gone.

 

To remove netmeeting:

1. Create a new folder called "%SystemRoot%\oldinf "

2. Copy "%SystemRoot%\inf\msnetmtg.inf" to the new folder.

3. Run the following command - "%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection NetMtg.Remove 132 msnetmtg.inf" (without the quotes and case sensitive!).

Netmeeting and its shortcuts/start menu entries will be removed from the system. Should it ever be necessary to re-install Netmeeting 3.01, this can be done by right clicking on "%SystemRoot%\oldinf\msnetmtg.inf" and selecting "install ".

It works. I've done it.

 

on my dad's account it is similair but instead of

it hangs for a while like its doing something and then gives a standard 404 error

this is odd, because I get on the same machine, on the same internet, and it works fine for me for hotmail

we think it has something to do with his firewall, but can't really figure it out
