A friend of mine built me a computer running windows XP service pack 2 .
[which I am not used to ]
One of the functions I use allot is "send to " .
I tried to use it on this PC and the send to menu comes up, and has options that appear to be fixed.? Such as C: , D:, etc.

The SEND TO function on my previous computer would open up and if I pointed towards C:, it let me select what folder to SEND TO.
[and no I did not set that up so I cannot dulpicate it]

Do I need to install something else, like Power Toys to be able to customize my SEND TO menu?
I checked and all the XP updates are installed.

Can the SEND TO MENU be "locked" somehow and if yes, how do I unlock it ?

also, my previous PC had a SEND TO folder, but this one does not.

I would appreciate any help on how to resolve this.
(please in clear easy to follow instructions)
    thank you.

Thank you for reply. I had gone to both those sights already.

Maybe Im not readdng them correctly, but both pages seem to instruct you how to set it up so you can send items to a specific file.
(i.e., like make a file folder called "scans" and then add SCANS to SEND TO menu so you can send items to THAT folder.)

below is part of the instructions:
Right-click on the folder, select "New" then "Shortcut ".
    5. A "Create Shortcut" wizard will appear. Select the program name (use the "Browse" button if desired) or the folder to which you would like to send files.
    6. Click "Next ".
    7. Type in a name for this shortcut, which will also be the name of the menu item under "Send To ".

I wanted to be able to click SEND TO and it will allow me each time to designate what folder I wish to send to.
[i.e., I click SEND TO , it shows me C drive and allows me to browse the folders on C drive for the folder I wish to send a file to, each time I use it.

Am I misunderstanding the above paragraph ?
Will it allow me to do what I want?
I don't want to add every directory folder name to the SEND TO menu...

    advise plz?

    8. Click "Finish" to close the dialog box.

    webmz3 - Welcome to the Board :)

As I read your thread you are completely new to XP ? What you are seeing is standard....

You can add 'Copy to Folder' & 'Move to Folder' to the Explorer right click menu following the steps outlined here ....

Add "Copy to Folder" and "Move to Folder" to Explorer Context Menu

This brings up a small Explorer type window in which you can select both the destination drive, if more than one, and the destination folder.

Hi, I have been using a third party program "Send To Toys" for many years started using it on WIN98, and using it now in XP Pro it never fails, it appears in your right click menu any file or folder to can add or remove from the Send To Menu by simply clicking on it, I could not live without it.
There is also Send To 16, but I have not used it.
    cheers
