I've been looking for a disk monitoring tool for ME. It seems most do not work with W98 or Me. I finally found one called TdiMon at http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/TdiMon.html

I downloaded the one for W9x. I clicked on the application icon, and immediately popped a window saying that TdiMon had been installed, and I needed to reboot in order to use it. So, I rebooted...well not exactly. Fairly soon into the reboot, it started to reboot again, this time it stopped in a menu with "Safe Mode" highlighted. I let it do that, and after Safe Mode finished booting, I rebooted once again. Same result. So, while in Safe Mode I searched under the WINDOWS folder for *TDI*, and found SYSTEM/TDIMSYS.VXD. The timestamp on that file indicated to me that it had to have been put on the system by the TdiMon install. So, I created a folder called "System_bad_stuff" on the same level with SYSTEM, and moved that file there. Now, I can boot my Me PC. Anyway, what could be the problem with that file, and anyone have any suggestions for another disk monitoring tool for Me?

    Thanks.

Are you looking for software to monitor the hard drives or network?

Well, I suppose eventually I like to monitor a bunch of stuff. Right now, I'm just interested in the hard drives.

I just use Everest 1.51. It shows my hard drive temps (if supported) and S.M.A.R.T.

Interesting. Is there any tool that show disk activity, like reads, writes, etc?
