Persistent Pop-ups, broadcaster, amaena and more, please help.

Hello everyone,

For the past couple of days, I've been getting a bunch of pop-ups within IE7 and it seems to be getting worse the more I try to fix it. I'm using Windows Vista and am getting everything from broadcaster to ads to protect your computer. My system is acting slower and when I use Firefox, it lags going back and forth from not responding to being ok for a couple seconds then back again. I've read some of the threads on this site and tried doing things on my own but nothing seems to help, AVG, Spybot, Ad-aware, Defender... I downloaded HJT and below is my log file. Also, when I run HJT, I get an error saying that my system denied write access to the Hosts file and another error as follows:

An unexpected error has occurred at procedure: modMain_CheckOther1Item()
Error #75 - Path/File access error

Please, if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Download Atribunes ATF Cleaner

• Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
• Tick the following boxes:
  • Windows Temp
  • Current User Temp
  • All User Temp
  • Cookies<<<---By deleting your cookies, you will have to re-enter any passwords and log-in info for any sites you are usually required to do so with.
  • Temporary Internet Files
  • History
  • Prefetch
  • Java Cache
• Click the [Empty Selected] button.

We'll empty the Recycle Bin later, once we know you're all cleaned up and nothing needs to be restored.

What you have there is a Vundo infection, please do as instructed below.
Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click *VundoFix.exe* to run it.
• Click the *Scan for Vundo* button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the *Remove Vundo* button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click *YES*
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click *OK*.
• Please post the contents of C:\*vundofix.txt* and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the *Scan for Vundo* button." when
VundoFix appears at reboot.

 

Hi and thank you so much for the reply.
I did as you suggested and when I ran vundofix.exe my computer went blank as it should but then froze up and stopped responding, I tried it twice.
I rebooted into safe mode and it ran successfully.
When I restarted my computer back into normal mode, I got an error loading svejwpro.dll, it said that the specified module could not be found.
I ran vundofix.exe again and this time it found nothing.

OK, we're going to use a special operation with VundoFix, please follow directions below, similar to first time, but we'll add a step.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it again.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
In case it says that nothing was found, Right click the list box (white box) in the main VundoFix window.
A small box will appear, saying 'Add more files?', click that box.
A new section will appear, saving 'Paste files into the boxes below:'.
Copy and paste the following into the first section:
C:\Windows\system32\jkklj.dll
Click the "Add Files" button.
Click the "Close Window" button.
Click the Remove Vundo button.[/list]
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.

Once rebooted, run ATF Cleaner, same as previous then run HJT and if found, fix the following lines:

Glad we could be of assistance.

We have 3 more things to do, mostly maintenance and then our recommendations:

Empty the TIF (Temporary Internet Files)
Delete all the files in (and any subfolders of) the C:\Windows\Temp folder
The app below will help with temp files.

Also, delete all your cookies, and empty your recycle bin. But remember, by deleting your cookies, you will have to re-enter any passwords and log-in info for any sites you are usually required to do so with.

This would also be a good time to set a new system restore point for your machine.
Set New System Restore Point. Do not do this unless there are no other user accounts to be diagnosed.

Also, as you are an XP user, if there are any other accounts on this machine, they too, must be cleaned with AdAware, Spybot S&D, then HJT. Not all infections are global, nor are all the HJT fixes global. You can post each user account here into this thread, but please, do only one at a time to avoid confusion. It is very rare that anything significant is ever found.

To further prevent the installation of ad/mal/spyware, DL the apps below, which are just as good the fight against ad/mal/spyware as AdAware & Spybot S&D:

SpywareBlaster
With SpywareBlaster v3.5.1 , just DL, install and check for updates, enable Internet Explorer protection, and your done! I don't recommend using IE restricted sites protection as it's not a very large database. Use IE-SPYADs below.

To avoid known malware infested sites from loading in IE install IESPY ADS.
And MVPS Hosts File will accomplish a similar tactic and provide another layer of protection.

And to prevent unknown applications from being inserted to start up on your machine install WinPatrol 2007 v11.2.2007.

Another thing I would suggest, is to install SiteAdvisor. It gives sites a few different 'ratings' and while not fool proof, a good additional layer of information about many sites.
