RECENT PROBLEM LOGGING ON TO ONLINE SERVICES. ONE ONE OF THE SERVICES, AFTER ENTERING USER ID AND PASSWORD NEXT SCREEN APPEARS WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF PROBLEM. WHEN TRY TO ACCESS AVAILABLE SERVICES, BUMPS ME BACK TO LOG-IN SCREEN. VENDOR TRIED BUT HAS NO IDEA WHAT PROBLEM IS. A WEEK LATER, ANOTHER ONE OF OUR SERVICES STARTED WITH SIMILAR PROBLEM. CAN LOGIN BUT AFTER HIT ENTER, BOUNCES RIGHT BACK TO LOGIN SCREEN. i HAVE ALREADY RUN UPDATED VIRUS SCAN, UPDATED TO IE6.0, DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED ALL WIN98 CRITICAL UPDATES, AND CHECKED THE OBVIOUS SECURITY SETTINGS. ANY HELP OUT THERE?

Please turn off your caps lock when posting. Postings in all caps are difficult to read.

    Hi CAROL2NDSRC
    Welcome to the boards!
I'm sure I should know this....but I'm drawing a blank. Which Online Services are you referring to?

Yes please - CAPS LOCK off if you would.

    Dial-up or high-speed connection?

    1. Add the sites to your list of trusted sites - you will automatically be using lower security settings when you connect and it may clear your problems.

    2. Clean out all your temporary internet files and cookies. I'd suggest also using a program like Spider to completely clean these off your PC.

    3. Call tech support for your ISP and ask them to delete the DNS Cache entries for (and provide the problem sites).

Sorry about the caps-I'm new to BBS etiquette
    In reply to additional questions:
The problem exists with both dial up and satellite internet. This computer has been connected to both with no solution to problem

The sites in question are two paid-for inventory locator services. I can't really go into anymore detail than that. I am able to enter the sites on other computers. However on this computer, the one site -after entering userID and password actually says "Welcome" Second Source Electronics but won't allow any activity past that. The other site just keeps returning to the logon screen.
I could not add them to the list of trusted sites because they are not https. However, as a test I took the security levels to minimums-still wouldn't work.
I have cleaned out all temporary internet files and ran Spider. No luck.
I am waiting for a call back from the dial-up ISP, but really don't think this is the problem since it also happens when connected to server/satellite.
    Thanks

"Sorry about the caps-I'm new to BBS etiquette "

Not to worry. We were all new at some point. Just that some of us are older at being new than others. :)

ALL CAPS is considered shouting by usual internet convention so do it when you would shout if speaking. Also, the stuff is very hard to read and the older your eyes are, the harder it gets.

If you are using Windows 2000 or XP and a browser to connect to the on-line services, try the steps shown Here since you may have run into the same issue.

If it works (and it should) and if you happen to like to know the why as well as the what, post back and someone will give you an explanation in English (well - mostly English).
