Westside, you can stop scratching your head! :D I found it.

In [tools][options][advanced][show expanded columns...] It was de-selected.
All is back to normal now. Thanks again for the help.

    JGB,

Glad to hear that all went well on your Fx and TB profile migration, way to go! Here is a Screen Shot of that tiny icon.

If it isn't viewable, then you must go to Tools | Options | Advanced, "Show expanded columns in the folder pane ", and enable the setting.

Make a backup of your Fx and TB Profiles folder on a frequent basis. I would suggest any time you make changes, add Bookmarks, Addresses, etc. Create a C:\Backup folder on your HDD, and copy the Profiles folders to this folder.

BTW, you can move your bookmarks.html folder anywhere on your HDD. I keep mine in C:\Bookmarks. This is an accumulation of 10 years of Bookmarks, and I have several backups... If you choose to move the Bookmarks file, then here are the instructions: Share Bookmarks. Even tho this was written for sharing, it also applies to a simple move of the bookmarks.html file.

    Thanks Ramona.
As you can see I had my "eureka" moment and replied at the same time you did.

When I was just looking at the TB & FF profiles section, I noticed FF keeps a bookmarks.bak file as well as a separate directory with a copy of the last set of bookmarks on shutdown. So my guess is if there is a catastrophic crash all you may lose was the last few bookmarks just prior the crash. That was a surprise, having the "belts & suspenders & don't stand up" level of protection.
I love it when the developers have a "lessons learned" attitude when writing s/w. Just wish Microsoft and PalmSoft did.

Another neat enhancement is the spell check on the fly. Was well exercised in this reply.

There are lots of fun things in both Fx and Tb, and my guess is that you will love them!

Something I just remembered about your instructions to backup copy the profile before installing FF & TB.

You said to make a copy of the profile sub-dir, which is excellent advice. However when I tried, there was message that a file was in use and the copy stopped. But Moz was not running (in foreground) at the time.

I used Task Manager [ctrl][shift][esc] and found mozilla.exe was running in background. I had to [end process] and then the profile copy went ahead without problem.

    JGB,

If you use Quick Launch, then Mozilla is always running in the background. Could this have been your problem?

No, in this case I booted the pc and tried to copy with nothing running. I always hand launch Moz, but I do have it set for "quick open" which means it opens in background at IPL.

I just mentioned this for the next guy who follows your instructions to upgrade Moz to TB & FF.

Oh, and 1 more thing, TB & FF install so quick, you may think it didn't load properly. It literally took 10 minutes to download both and get them up and running. Kudos to the developers.

I, never, had your problem with Mozilla. However, I have no qualms about terminating a process, especially when it makes no sense. And, it works every time, regardless of the Windows warning. I have had such problem with Firefox and Thunderbird, when I had more than one version. For some reason, although I had them in different folders, and ran them with different profiles, newer programs did not close. I may be a bug in the new program, but it has happened enough times, that I have little desire to test no versions.
But, I have three versions of the Suite Seamonkey, and never had a problem.
