In my boot list I have 2000 pro setup, this is because I tried to reinstall 2k from 98 when in a boot loop in 2k. Anyway to remove this? TIA busterb

    Is it listed in c:\boot.ini?

You can certainly remove a boot line from the file. Just make sure you have the 3 usual ones (2K, 2K-VGA, 98) remaining and set the one you want as default.

Do you have any other residual from the failed install on the PC?

Extra windows folder possibly. Duplicate NT system files in C:\ possibly. Left over registry entries probably (but don't know right off hand where to tell you to look) that I wouldn't worry about unless you continue to have problems.

    Comment: Good Luck.

Suggestion1: Make REAL sure you got a backup of anything you are fond of.

Suggestion2: Why not try SP3 first. It is huge and my guess is that it replaces most of the existing windows files with updates.
