BSODs with new mobo & RAM - RAM or Pagefile? - Dump Data

I recently (March 15th) replaced my CPU, Motherboard, RAM, and video card. All are brand new from NewEgg. My old motherboard prompted some BSODs but I am continuing to get them. Upon looking at the dump data I see they were unrelated. Before I return my RAM and get a new stick I want to make sure my RAM is faulty and it's not the Pagefile. My pagefile is set to be from 1533MB to 4906MB and it resides on the same drive as Windows. I did memtest86+ and there were numerous errors but I looked on NewEgg and other people have used Patriot RAM with the ASUS M2N-E boards with no problems. I later switched DIMM slots and there were still BSODs and memtest errors.

I look at the SYMBOL_NAME: nt!MiReleasePageFileSpace+55
and wonder if this is a problem with my Pagefile rather than the RAM stick.

The dump data is below on my most recent BSOD. I only have a few days before the return policy is up.

BUT, I'm wondering if this may be linked to a sound device driver by a company called Roland. It's associated with the RVIEg01.sys file in your dump log. I wasn't able to find any further info about it - but uninstalling the program temporarily may let you know if it fixes the BSOD's or not.

 

I've been impressed with Patriot's dual channel low latency DDR memory on some socket 939 systems. Unfortunately, this isn't what you have board-wise or memory-wise. If you look at pages 37 & 38 of your motherboard manual you won't find your memory included in the listing of approved modules. Your board will run both ECC and non-registered unbuffered memory and it is dual channel capable. My suggestion would be to stick with something on the "recommended" list and get two matched sticks designated specifically as a matched pair. Personally, I can't overstate the importance of good memory and that means modules that are compatable with a specific board.

This is not to say that your Patriot purchase was a bad one - its just not a good one for this motherboard. You are also handicapping this system's full potential by trying to get away with a single stick of memory. Its like outfitting a Ferrari with bicycle tires - it might sound impressive, but don't take it out on the road and expect much.

 

usasma: As I said in my post, I already tested my RAM using memtest86+. Many errors are reported, although the Patriot website says that errors may be caused by other parts of the memory system (CPU, cache, memory controller (either on CPU or motherboard), and the motherboard itself) as well.

I tried to clear my pagefile but when I removed all pagefiles, on restart I got another blue screen.

As far as the Roland driver I don't know where to go from here because it is my MIDI audio drive (I believe) that is used for Cakewalk. There doesn't appear to be a place in the Device Manager for it.

Rockster: I know that Patriot is not under the officially verified companies which have RAM sticks that works with my mobo. However, as I said in my post, other NewEgg users reported this very same stick working on M2N-E motherboards (and other Asus M2 motherboards). As such, I am inclined to believe that Patriot does work with my mobo. I know that certain companies are suggested for RAM and my mobo, but my question at this point is: is the RAM faulty or not? It's a pain in the ass to return my RAM and order new sticks, so I want to ensure that the RAM is truly the cause.

Please help!
