I am using widows xp on both computers. #1 computer is wired to a router. (Linksys WRT54GS) #2 computer is wireless. I share out the dvd drive on comuter #1, but when I try to access the drive from computer #2 it says "not accessable or may not have permission to access this, please contact your administrator" I tried turning off the firewall on comuter #1, but still nothing. I'm sure I am just missing something. Any Ideas? Basically what I am trying to do is to burn on #1 computer from # 2 computer. #2 computer burner is hooped and doesn't work.

I've shared a optical over my network, but as a reader. Writing / burning might be problematic over a network / shared device. If simply burning files to a CD over the network, XP system software can / could manage the burn.(??) If your burns require the use of a specific program, example Nero, you need to launch the target drive and program resident to the same computer. If the latter, share the files (from) computer 2 (to) computer 1 may be a simpler approach. The least trouble would be to copy the files to a temporary folder on computer 1. Burning program / CD-DVD burner / files all on the same computer will give you the most reliable burns. After you have verified your burns as good, you can delete the temporary folder.

    Thanks

Thank you for your information. As a beginner trying to learn the easiest way, I put the information on a shared file to the other computer and burned it from there. Thank you very much
