Microsoft has released Win2K SP3 for it's Premier Customers and will release the product to the general public on Thursday.

So you won't find it listed on http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/default.asp

But it's posted on the MS download site:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/win2000platform/SP/SP3/NT5/EN-US/w2ksp3.exe

This is the complete 124MB package. There will be an express setup presumably on Thursday...

All cautions about downloading early apply :)

Downloaded SP3 today from that site.Everything went fine, took 31 min. to download through my sattellite modem, not bad for 124mb!One of the features is that the operating system now recognizes the ATA 100 hard drives. So if you have an ATA 100 or ATA 133 hard drive there will be a performance enhancement there.Another enhancement is the new "Set Program Access and Defaults tab which should show up in either the control panel or the start menu. This feature looks like an XP window for add/remove programs.Looks good so far.

    Beware of EULA of SP3

I know this is a Windows supporting forum, however I hope others can beware of Microsoft's new trick to steal your rights.

    Sorry if offend.

Life is good again for the paranoid!

To be complete, here is the FULL text of the "offending" parts:

So, don't use Automatic updates if you are paranoid.

Still not convincing enough. In other words... there are such back door technologies (or whatever Microsoft might call it) exist to steal data (even if not personally identifiable) from your computer without your knowledge.

It does not state explicitly which products or components will open your back door for Microsoft.

I believe that most users do not read EULA, and some only read a small part of it and without understanding. Also, there is an article about how Microsoft secrectly logged all your internet activities and even deleted emails and has been verified. ( "Microsoft's Really Hidden Files ", not written by me.) To me, Microsoft can't be trusted at all.

Well, I do not want to raise the anti-Microsoft issue, however, I do hope other people can be aware of Microsoft's new and tricky EULA.
