Hi, I downloaded to-day TB 2.0. In the start/programs/thunderbird there's no profile manager so i made a shorcut 2 rename to profile manager, and went to tb properties and rename the target line to "Mozilla Thunderbird/Thunderbird.exe" -p user name.....when i clic on the profile manager shortcut the profile manager doesn't open instead it open the whole mail program. What is wrong?

    Gaston,

Don't add your user name to the path. All you need to add is -p.

    Gaston,
I have installed TB2.0rc1, and I don't like for, at least two reasons. It steals default from 1.5.0.10. There is no way to keep unchecked the Mail box.
Also, it nags me every time to compact my folders, if I even delete one e-mail. And, I compact folders, anyway before exiting.
Other than that it is a solid program, and I access it the way you describe.
For 1.5.0.10 my Target line is -p TB1.5, while for 2.0 it is -p TB2.0.
In theory by leaving out the username, one should be presented with the PM, where one can make a choice, but I never bothered with that. At least in WinXP I can use the old way. The old caveat is that I have to open 1.5 right after closing 2.0, or else the latter will steal default.

    Gaston,
Compare the properties in the two shortcuts, You can determine which does what and adjust accordingly.
[edit - you got it so disregard ]

    Westside,

I think you looked in your prefs,js file...look in about config (config editor).

I am not sure about TB 2.0, but in tb 1.5.0.10 defaults are set in:

    <pathe to program>.....\defaults\pref\mailnews.js

    pref( "mail.purge_threshhold ", 100);
    pref( "mail.prompt_purge_threshhold ", false);

    Toggle/reset:
mail.prompt_purge_threshhold = false and it shud not prompt again.

I don't know if they changed it in tb.2.x or not. but regardless if set to "false" it shud not prompt.

    just My HO.

same for gaston if you do not want to be prompted.

I do not kknow where the GUI is for TB 2.x, but in 1.5.x it is in Options->Advanced-.>Off line Disk Space->[bottom]

    but I could be wrong....

I was not sure what you were referring to. Yes, I did look at the prefs.js file, as I did not know where else to look for. But, as I expected, the Options|Advanced|Network & Disk space|Disk space was checked at 100Kb.
I unchecked it, but would not be surprised if it becomes checked again, as the default for Mail does. Interestingly, I had thought of that possibility as there is a Disk Space setting for each account, and I have ten of them, and none of them were checked. I am going to give up on TB2.0, very soon.

    Westside,

    Sorry if I was unclear. I don't have TB2.x, but 1.5.0.10.
I was refering to the config editor (about: config) I have the aboutconfig extension. But I think you can get there via Tools dropdown ( but I am not positive) If you follow steps above, I believe that will disable the prompt.

OT - is there a ZIP file for TB 2.0rc ?

Beside being able to uncheck the box, as I said before, I was able to find a Config Editor in Options|Advanced|General|Config Editor and, yes, I have the settings as yours, now.
I have not found a zip file, but what difference does it make? Now just unzipping a file places in the Add/Remove. In am talking about FF3.0a3.
As for my rc1, I am pretty sure that it is the same as the beta2, or 2.0pre . 2.0pre has a zip file. My download whose origin I don't recall is of 3-26, while the 2.0pre is of 3-27.

    westside,
thanks - I think it will disable the prompt, let me knnow :)

I try and only use RELEASES - somewhere along the way - found a conflict Installing more than one version of SM to a seperate directory - so I have stayed away from the NEW versions that remove previous versions, but that is a whole different story. No need to get into.....

Just what Exactly is the problem you are having with checking mailbox ?

    Just curious.

Initially, TB2.0 was opening when I clicked on the icon in Firefox, and, although I was trying to uncheck the Mail default, it was coming right back. But, something has changed, because, the E-mail default was, originally grayed out, then it surfaced, and yesterday, after I checked the config editor it started behaving. In fact, I just opened the right mail program from the icon in Firefox. The same was happening if I tried to send an e-mail, using a link.
I, generally, don't like to install programs, unless they are final, but, after my experience with FF3.0a4 .zip which became installed, I gave up most testing.
This has been reported at mozillazine.org, and I was told that it was part of a fix(?) for Vista. Some people, like me, are indignant. Others says that it is the way it is. I hope that they fix the fix.
This morning, I check my mail in TB2.0. Then exited, and opened FF2.0.0.3. Nothing would have when I selected Get Mail|Read Mail. So, i went to check the Task Manager, and, sure enough there were two Thunderbird.exe items. I deleted them, and, I was able to open TB1.5.0.10
