I'm having problems running some old games under Windows 2000. Windows doesn't recognize my sound card in the DOS shell.
I tried running the games and it kicks me out unless I setup the games to not accept a sound card. I tried editting the config.sys and the config.nt but it still doesn't see it. Please help

The problem is that the dos games are not configured for your sound card, the problem is not in windows. Open a dos prompt and type in:
    set <enter>
    Look for line such as:
    Blaster=A220 I5 D3 T4
These are the settings you are looking for. You will need go into the individual games and enter the settings in for the sound card.
    Good luck!

    It stated Blaster=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
I set it up as followed:
    Address 220
    Sound Blaster or compatible
    interrupt 5
    8bit DMA 1
    16bit DMA 5
This still does not work...it worked when I had 98. Do I have to partition and add 98 to my hard drive?

I really don't want to have a dual boot going on. My sound card does work in Win 2000 and on all my newer games. I just can't seem to get it to work on Duke Nukem, Keen, and most of my old apogee games.
Is it possible to load some of the files on my 98 boot disk to the config and autoexec or would that really mess things up?

Got to http://www.jsiinc.com/ , click on Catalog, then click on SoundFX. There is an evaluation version available for download. I've used it in both Win2K and WinXP Pro.

I tried using that program and it worked for most of my games. There are still a few that lock up when I try to run them(Duke Nukem 3D) but other than that it's great. Thanks. I wish there was something I could do to the system than go fork out some money for a program.

Simplest to boot with a DOS floppy that has the DOS settings for the games. Game files can't be on an NTFS partition, of course, since DOS can't read it.
