    Repair Process

It is now halfway through the repair process at the 39 minutes screen. You have become my families new best internet friend. We have been using my sisters laptop and she does not like to share.

I believe this problem could have started because my dad has overloaded the computer. It really needs to be cleaned up. Is there a program out there you can suggest?

I also went on you website. You take wonderful pictures!

Jennifer - that is great news :) Just keep your fingers crossed that the repair is successful and then please, please backup your data (files) regularly.

The best cleanup I can suggest is ....

Start > Run > type in %temp% > OK - all files found may be safely deleted

Go to C:\Windows\temp and delete all files there.

Note that in both cases two or three files will be in use and cannot be deleted.

In Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Empty Temporary Internet files - in IE 7 Tools > Internet Options - General tab - Browsing History > Delete > Temporary Internet files.

Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall any programs which you are sure are no longer needed.

Keep us posted on the repair.

Glad to hear that you liked my pictures and thank you for taking a look at them :)

    Repair is complete!

So far so good...there were just a couple of pop ups that stated certain files could not be found. I will worry about that after!

    Thanks for all the help.

    You're welcome :)

Don't forget to log onto Microsoft (Windows) Update - you may need to reinstall critical updates.

    Internet Explorer and Outlook

After repairing windows xp I am unable to run Internet Explorer,Outlook Express and Windows update. I also cannot do a System Restore as there are no restore points.

When I click on Explore it says

    IEXPLORE.EXE-Entry point not found

The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll.

    What do I do!!!!!!
