Hey guys, okay. Earlier today my idiot of a friend went on a website (sorry if I'm not aloud to post URL's) but it was xxx.seriall.com (Don't go there! Deffinitly virus infested) but he wen't there and downloaded a CD key generator and it deffinitly messed my computer up. Everytime I open a Internet Explorer or load a new page, about 2-4 copies of IE open containing either ****, fake offers, and other things. Also my computer is running very laggy/slugish and I get alot of crashes. I scanned with Norton AV but it never shows anything wrong:mad: I also ran HJT and was wondering if you could take a look at the log and see if anything is wrong.

    Thanks.

    Hi AshesOfTheWake

    Welcome back:(

Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below...
    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3
    • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
    • Double click NoLop.exe to run it
    • Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy "
<<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
    • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
    • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
    • A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log
--If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
    • Select:
      • Delete on Reboot
      • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

      C:\WINDOWS\system32\xkururpd.dll

    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As ", in FF it's "Save Link As ") to download Silent Runners.
    • Save it to the desktop.
    • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
    • You will receive a prompt:
      • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
        click NO
    • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
    • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
    • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Please post the NoLop log, Silent Runners log and a new HJT log.

    Geri

    Hi
    OK

Please do the Killbox and Silent Runners.

    Then rename Hijackthis.exe to Killer.exe.

Hey Geri, well I ran the Killbox program, and at the end I got a message saying "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\xkururpd.dll The specified could not be not be found." Also I ran the Silent Runners program and here ya go. I'm not sure if I was supposed to do another HJT scan due to the error message I got.

    Hi AshesOfTheWake

Please download this and run it.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Then Yes please post a new HJT log. Make sure you rename it before running the HJT scan.

    Thanks
    Geri

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

    Close HJT.

    Reboot into safe mode.
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore "), please delete these files (if present):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\akcxswxh.dll <<<This file
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xkururpd.dll <<<This file

    After that, Reboot.

Please post a New HJT Log into this Thread.

Let me know if you still get the error message upon reboot.

:D Once again, you've solved my computer problems. Thank you alot =) But I rebooted my computer after fixing those problems in HJT and when I logged in that message didn't pop up, so I was wondering if the whole safe mode thing is necessary now.

    Hi
Yes, it would be a good idea to check and make sure those files were deleted.

Also Please post a new HJT log after you make sure those files are gone.

There are a couple scans I would like you to do after I see the HJT log.

That web site is a nasty one and I really want to be sure that everything is gone.

    Geri

Hi Geri, well I rebooted and went in to safe mode and could not find those two files. But shortly before I rebooted to go in to safe mode I had yet another message pop up my Norton claiming it blocked an attack against my computer. So when I was in safe mode and couldn't find them I then clicked run in the start menue to see if they exsisted still and they did. So right now I'm a bit confused with those two files but here's a new HTJ log for ya.

    Hi AshesOfTheWake
Did it say where they were? HJT will put them in a back up folder. That could be where it seen them.

Lets get a couple on-line scans.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

    Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
    • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
    • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
    • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
      • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      • Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
      • Scan Options:
      • Scan Archives
        Scan Mail Bases
    • Click OK
    • Now under select a target to scan:
      • Select My Computer
    • This will program will start and scan your system.
    • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
      • Now click on the Save as Text button:
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
    • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    • Enter your Country
    • Enter your State/Province
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send
    • Select either Home User or Company
    • Click the big Scan Now button
    • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
    • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

    Please post these two logs.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi
    OK Please run KillBox again

    Add this line to delete.

    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\int_ver34.INF

Now download AVG Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program
    1. Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
    2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
    3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
      • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    4. Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
    5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine ".
    6. Under "Reports "
      • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan "
      • Un-Select "Only if threats were found "
Close AVG Anti-Spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
    2. Lauch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
    3. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan ".

Once the scan is complete do the following:
    5. If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions "
    6. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
    7. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).

Hello Geri, sorry it took me a while to respond. I haven't gotten around to the AVG scan in safe mode yet, however there is an issue I thought I should bring to your attention.

Frequently, when I turn my computer on it runs fine until I reach the user screen to log in. Well actually, I don't make it that far.. after Windows loads up (before you get to the log in screen) it will go black.. and stay black until I reboot. Then it brings me to the screen with the safe mode options following with a message saying that there was a problem during start up because of either new software or hardware. I haven't added anything to my computer recently other than the programs you've been telling me to download. Then when I click "Start up Windows "(that's not the exact option) it'll do the same thing again for 1 or 2 more times until finally it works normally.

    HI
There is no reason for it to be doing that from anything we have ran?

Lets check a start up list, and I will ask TeMerc to look in on this also.

    Create a Startup List

    * Open HiJackThis
    * Click on the "Config..." button on the bottom right
    * Click on the tab "Misc Tools "
    * Check off the 2 boxes next to the Box that says "Generate StartupList log "
    * Click on the button "Generate StartupList log "
    * Copy and past the StartupList from the notepad into your next post

    Geri
