After reinstalling XP Pro due to a virus i now have two XP Pro installs, even though i formatted the hard disk while installing. To clarify, when i boot up, i get the black screen where you can choose operating system if you multiboot, but i have two XP pro installs, only one of the are operational. How can i delete the one install (or just bypass this screen)?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions, i did a search but could not find any other post regarding this subject. I have checked MS's knowledge base as well to no avail.

Juste - Welcome to the Board :)

    Relatively simple ....

Right Click on My Computer icon > Properties > Advanced > Startup & Recovery > Settings - System Startup - Default Operating System.

Select the one which works and set the time to display operating systems to zero - once you are sure that you have selected the working system :)

I suggest setting it to 5 secs initially.

While you are in that dialogue uncheck Automatically restart under System Failure. You will then see the BSOD if the computer crashes at any time and be able to post the error message here for assistance.

Thank you! I will try this when i get home from work. It's more of a nuisance than anything else but i will be glad to get rid of it.
