I had to move all of the files in one username to another, so I moved all of the documents into one folder and simply copied the folder into the second username. While moving the files back, I've found that some of the documents have disappeared. I've tried the 'search' option etc. :S Any ideas at all would be appreciated, Please help if you can :(

    Thank you

    Hi,

How long ago did you move the folder back?
Were the files intact after the first move?

There are a couple of methods:
1.I don't know if this will still work for you,but
a simple method is to click on the folder (activate, don't open)
Go to Edit and the first entry should be "Undo Move "
and check if the files are intact again.(Provided they were in the first place :) )

Possibly a System Restore might help, however,SR very often does not affect documents etc. under a user profile, because they are typically excluded from changes.

If they are indeed deleted, stop changing or deleting anything and use a file recovery program.
There are many free ones, but here is one that worked great for me:
    PC Inspector File Recovery http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm

Let us know how you make out.

    Pete.

    Hi okaythen,

    Welcome to the BBS.

PC Inspector File Recovery works OK, if you can figure out its unnecessarily complicated and confusing interface.

Personally, I prefer Undelete Plus. IMHO it works just as well as (if not better than) PC Inspector File Recovery, and it's much easier to understand.
