Dear friends, I m using now AMD 939 3700+ processor with MB Gigabyte GA K8U-939 with 2X512 400 DDR memory, I use this system for almost 1 year & m happy with it, I just wanted to change the CPU to 4200+ X2 Dual core.
My main question is it werse while to change completly to 940 AM2 with DDR2 with 4200+ X2 Dual core, will I get better preformance with same processor on 940 or just stay on 939 & change only the processor.

    Thank's

You will not get a worthwhile performance boost between an Socket 939 and a Socket AM2 platform running basically the same hardware with the same "level" of processor.

With the increased latency of DDR2 memory, depending on what RAM you used, your performance might even be worse.

If you're running a well-outfitted Socket 939 platform, I would skip AM2 completely with your next build. That is what I am going to do - unless something happens (a new cpu architecture?, much lower latency RAM?) to enable an AM2 to run MUCH faster.
