I can go to Power options, and tell System Standby to happen, and it does. Turn off Monitor and Hard Disks does not work. Only Home/Offiice Desk and Portable/Laptop are shown under Power schemes. There are 17 schemes in the registry. Only 0 through 6 have a name . CurrentPowerPolicy is set to 0, which is Home/Office Desk. the Description says "This scheme is suited to most home or desktop computers that are left plugged in all the time ". That seems to fit this computer. I like to have the monitor turn off and then the hard disk soon after. No standby. Can anyone help.

This is a Compaq. There is only asking what to do in the BIOS if AC power goes off. It is set to "Stay Off ". This means I have to push the button on the front of the tower to restart. I guess they do not want me to change much in there. By the way my computer is set to ACPI Uniprocesser PC in Device Manager.

Sounds ok so far. I'll throw in this MS link in case you haven't read it.

Yes I have been to that site before. ACPI acts on System Standby, and that works. I have another computer without ACPI, and turn off Monitor and Hard Disks works, but not System Standby.
