I have installed IE7 (v7.0.5730.11). Three out of four times when I open the browser a window pops up to tell me that IE7 has encountered a problem and must close. What I'd like to know is
    1. Is there a repair that can be performed on IE7 like there was on previous versions?
    2. Can I reinstall on top of my current installation? If I try to remove IE7 before I reinstall I get a message that my downloaded fixes might be compromised.

    IE7 Problem

Thanks, but after looking at your response it just seems easier to get rid of IE7.

aldago - Welcome to the Board :)

You may have a corrupted install of IE 7. It is possible to remove IE 7 through Add/Remove Programs and revert to IE 6. The fixes noted are those pertaining to IE 7.

If you want to reinstall IE 7 read through this article and follow it to the letter ....

    IE7 Problem

Thank you - that really helped. I looked for an IE7 "Safe Mode" but couldn't find it. Instead of hiding the "no addon mode" in System Tools, someone should suggest that MS does what Firefox does and put 2 choices in the Start Menu
    Open IE7
Open IE7 in Safe Mode (i.e. no addons)
That would save a lot of grief because I'm sure lots of addons are going to cause problems.
Thanks again. IE7 seems to be running ok now and I'll check to see which addon is causing the problem.
