Sometimes I get a message like this during browsing:
The instruction at "0x30194a08" referenced memory at "0x30194a08 ".
The memory could not be "written ".
In general, my Netscape version 7.2 runs fine.
The error occurs always for the site:
    http://www.surfspot.nl
    and sometimes for other sites.
Internet Explorer is able to handle this site correctly.
I have that experience on my laptop with Windows XP Prof SP2
and on our home computer with Windows XP Home SP2.
On the last one the error message is the well-known Microsoft statement that the system has found a serious error with the option to pass it to Microsoft.
Can I fix this easily? I guess that some web-pages contain instructions which give rise to such errors.

I can go to the home page with either Netscape7.2 or Firefox2.0.0.2. Since I can't understand Dutch, I did not try to go any further.
I am using Windows XP Home SP2.

    Ed,

Do you get the same error when you use Internet Explorer? I believe this might be a Windows problem, and not Netscape...

Oops! I just read Ed's post again, and he said:
Right now, I have no idea what is causing the error, but I am trying to get some information on why it occurs.

    Problem solved !

I found out that the error originated from the file npswf32.dll (version 9, r. 28).
That is a plugin for ShockWave applications.
I just deleted that file from the Plugins folder under Netscape,
and now, I do not have any longer this problem !
Moreover from the Adobe site I installed a new version for the FlashPlayer (version 10).
That resulted in a new version for the file npswf32.dll.
    Everything is now right !

    Ed.

Thanks for getting back to us with the solution to your problem. I would be interested in where you found the answer, and the download site for Ver.10.

    Thanks again!

    How I solved it

Om my Windows XP Home SP2 PC the windows log-file was more informative than the one on my notebook with Windows XP Prof SP2.
On the first one I found that the file npswf32.dll (file version 9.0.28.0) caused the error.
That file is a plugin for Shockwave Flash applications.
See also "About Plugins" under Help of Netscape 7.2.
Firstly, I removed that file from the Plugins-folder (rather crude method ?).
    That already was good enough.
Later I installed a new version from the site
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/flash-nl.html

I have now in my Plugins folder:
np32dsw.dll : Adobe Shockwave Director for Netscape, version 10.1, file-version 10.1.4.20 (for *.dir, *.dxr, *.dcr files; "Shockwave for Director ")
    GetFlash.exe: Adbobe Flash Player Updater 9.0 r16, file-version 9.0.16.0
npswf32.dll: Shockwave 6 r79, file version 6.0.79.0 (for *.swf and *.swl files "Shockwave Flash ")

I wonder whether I have now the most actual and for me working version for the file npswf32.dll.
The two sites in the message by Westside deliver actually Flash 9.0.28.0 (that is the file version of the downloaded file),
so I refrain from updating to that version. Where can I get Flash 9.0.16.0 ?
In any case, I do not have that particular error.

I gave you two download location in the links of message #9.
I guess that deleting the file is ok. You could rename it to xnpswf32,dll.
But, you seem to have an older version of Flash. Check the date. It should be quite old. I am using 8.0 r.022, although I was told that 9.0 r.016 works.

    Ed,

When I answered your post, you hadn't edited your reply with the additional version information.

To check the Version of the npswf32.dll file:
Right click the file and select Properties
In the Properties sheet click the Version Tab

    OR

The Version will show if you mouseover the file.

I tried both locations, but the actual files were version 9.0.28.0.
I found somewhere else version 9.0.16.0 (using Google)!
So the version information for my file npswf32.dll is now:
    Shockwave Flash 9.0 r16.
Ramona & Westside: thanks for all assistance !!

    Ed,
glad that things worked. It is funny that the first link was for 9.0.16 when I posted, but the site must have been updated to 9.0.28. however, the second link of mine was for 9.0.16. At least, this is what I see.
