Hi I've been using Nero 7 Premium (v7.0.1.4) with a PIONEER DVD-RW (DVR-109) which has been working great then suddenly stops writing DVD-r's. CD-r's are still fine.

When I try and burn a DVD-r and get an error about "buffer to large ". I've reinstalled Nero and edited various options but still nothing. I could understand if no disc would write.

I have the log from Nero if required. Please can you help me as I'm stuck without a writer and running out of disc space. :(

AFAIK a DVD writer uses different lasers or different circuitry when writing to CD as opposed to DVD - density is greater on a DVD.

If you have the opportunity to borrow another DVD writer this would eliminate a fault in the drive.

Just tried another brand of DVD-r's as I've read that this can cause errors and that failed too. Looks like a new writer for me.

I will mate, what's annoying is that I was gonna sell this writer to cover some of the cost of the new one. Oh well it worked great for a few years. ;)

A quick update. I bought a new writer and installed the latest versions of Nero (and Nero Express) and they both gave the "Buffer too large" error, so it wasn't the writer at fault. Which is good so I can sell it now.

As I've just bought a laptop with a DVD writer on, I copied the data to it that I wanted to burn and the Nero version I was having problems with. And it worked 1st time with the same media. So I don't think it's a Nero problem now.

So that leaves me with a PC/Windows problem - any ideas?
