My daughter is having trouble emailing me from her Hotmail account. We've never had problems before. Niether one of us have changed our emails recently. My email client is Outlook Express ver. 6. I am completely up to date on OE and IE and my Norton is the latest and running ok. Below is the error message she gets when she mails me and it goes back to her:

    Reporting-MTA: dns;bay0-omc3-s11.bay0.hotmail.com Received-From-MTA: dns;hotmail.com Arrival-Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2007 16:41:42 -0800 Final-Recipient: rfc822;*9*******5@charter**.*** Action: failed Status: 5.5.0 Diagnostic-Code: smtp;501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments

I have called my ISP (charter) 2x and they say they can't help me. They say that I need to contact MS or Norton or Compaq to resolve this issue. I've tried using the KB to find the errors, but keep going around in circles and can't seem to find what I need. Guess my brain just can't handle the jargon lately. :( The only new thing I have done to this computer since the problem has started (about 2 weeks ago) is to download the update for DST for my computer clock. I'm hoping someone out there is familiar with this error code and direct me to a fix.

    Thanks!

    :)

Well...that was an interesting site about codes and stuff, but it didn't really help me. Unless I'm just not seeing it. What am I missing???

From what I am reading it looks like it could be that the server is reading the address as spam. I could try to call my ISP again and see if I can find a DIFFERENT person to help me and maybe fix this. In the mean time, maybe someone can still figure this out for me. I see that it's a common problem from reading the many posts on the google search.

Thanks so much for helping me with this. It's easy to get lost in the cyber world looking for answers!

Just want to update you all on this. The other day the hotmail account starting working....all on it's own! My daughter and I are trying to figure out what happened, but maybe we should just let it go. Maybe just a hicup in the cyber lines? Who knows. In any case, it's working ok.

Thanks again for all the help. If you do run across why it happened, tho, I'd be interested in knowing. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

    THANKS!!!!

    :)

Glad that all is well. Do you think that anybody would admit that it was their fault???lol

LOL. I'm thinking the 'runaround' was a dead giveaway that no one wanted to admit it was their problem, let alone try to fix it. I don't usually have trouble with tech support with any area, but lately it's been awful. Thank goodness for this board!!!
