When I start my Windows XP Home Edition computer, about 10 seconds later, a screen comes up stating "Press DEL to enter setup ". When I press DEL a screen comes up with about 20 items. I don't see SAFE mode. Pressing F8 gets me nowhere. Which one of these options should I select to get me into "SAFE" mode? Thank you.

Your are probably grabbing the bios setup . Let Windows XP boot a little more until the Del Key message goes away and then press the F8 key. If you keep tapping it a little faster than once a second you should end up getting the boot menu with the safe mode option.

    dont you press F8

During bootup it, sounds like you have a bad boot sector.
Posibly a corrupted file in system directory
There is a recovery option if you stick your XP disk in and boot off it
Choose boot from CD in your bios put in the disk restart your computer and watch the bottom task bar or maybe it it the graphical part ofthe screen any way its just like installing the OS
it will come to a spot and recoginze your present install it wil then ask you if you want install or repair your present installation.
press R for repair and follow the instructions.
