You won't notice a difference in performance between any of them really. I've used the 530tx's already on windows and linux w/ no troubles.

It all depends if you have the driver disk for the card.
If you do not have the driver disk you will be locked out of the internet so it would be all academic.
Windows XP will install most PCI network cards.
Oneboard network drivers usualy need an install disk even with XP.
Windows 98 often needs a driver disk or driver to install.
If you are looking for the driver online not the version number of the card. If it the right model but wrong version lol.

    Network cards

As long as the cards are 10/100 based cards it really does not matter.
If you have any odd cards without drivers use those for xp - the others can be more easily used for older versions of xp.
Maybe some will work in vista ???
If there are some really old cards say 10 base isa cards those can be useful in windows 98 computers - they install easily with install native and for browsing are faster than internet connections anyways.
Older cards or more standard ones ( intel, 3com, etc etc) may well install native on older vesions of windows veras some cards - such as smc will not install with a standard windows 98 install and you are in a catch 22 situation of not being to go online with that computer to get the driver to get the card working online.
