    Hi All,

I am developing a fairly large application in Powerbuilder with Sybase ASA and Oracle 8i databases. The machine is a P4/1.4G/500Meg (Dell). I have a problem that every so often the application (usually the IDE) begins to crash and will continue to do so until I reload Win2K. This is the only soultion I have found so far. Does anyone have any ideas what files may be getting corrupted etc.? I have not yet found anything that provokes thngs. I have tried all the Powerbuilder sites to no avail.

Any help appreciated - thanks Dave

    Hi davel52
Welcome to the boards! Do you get any particular error messages?

    Hi Daizy,

I get an error that there has been an error in the PB IDEs main .dll and that Dr. Watson is creating a log. I have tried tracing the PB IDE but it just dies quietly and can't really make sense of the Dr. Watson. Because of this I thought a useful test was to try find out what Win2K files (or could it be something in the registry) could possibly do this. It is definitely not machine specific as it has happened on P3, P4 and Athalon processors but only in Win2K. It seems like a memory leak (PB is known to have memory leaks in the IDE) but that would be fixed with a reboot. So I am pretty much lost. :(

    Hello again davel52
I've been all over the net trying to research this one a bit for you.....and I've come up with nothing. :( Sorry about that.
So....I'll just pop this one back up to the top in hopes that someone else has some ideas on it.

davel52 - I would expect the PB folks to have at least a couple of tech support guys who could work with the Dr. Watson report and help you out.

Also, most of the Dr. Watson type errors will also give one or more event log errors that can help. Are you seeing anything there?

    Latest 2K SP?

If you want, email me a copy of a typical Dr. Watson message from this problem. May not make sense to me either but it may give some ideas. Hopefully enough to start up a performance monitor session to watch some specific items and get to a fix from there. If you do send the email, please put Dr. Watson in the subject ('cause I tend to delete email about most bbs issues without even looking to see the contents) and include a link to this thread.
