I am running Windows XP SP2, current with all updates/patches. I can no longer log into any site that requires a User ID and password. When I attempt to login, I click submit and the status bar shows progress but the page never goes anywhere. No error is ever returned, the page just stops, just like the escape key was pushed. After that, clicking the submit button does nothing.

All other network/internet activity is normal. I can go to any other websites with no problems. I have not made any configuration changes or installed anything new.

I have run a full virus & spyware scan. I have reset all the IE settings back to default but I still have the same problem. I am able to get to the pages by logging onto another machine, copying the cookie to the problem PC, then starting IE.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Your PC is clearly refusing the cookies - check out you settings, not only in IE, but also in your firewall and antispyware software. You may have to make those sites 'exceptions'.

    PeteC,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I had already checked all the settings you referred to, as well as added a couple of the sites in question to the 'Allow' list. I have a second PC, on the same network, that I used to compare all the settings. Both have the same settings, use the same firewall/antivirus, and have the same settings for both. Yet the second PC has no problem with any of the sites I try to login to.
