I noticed lately when trying to play a game on my computer that there was a delay from when I press the button till the action occures on screen, so it is impossible to play practically any game -, like "Flipper "(pinball) driving a car or any game with movement by keyboard or joystick. Since I do not play games very frequently I do not what changes (installations of software) I have made that might have changed this behaviour so I decided to make a repair installation which did work and the delay disappeared.

So I downloaded windows updates which where about 90 or 100 but now I am back to square one, so the problem seems to be causing it some windows update, I could not dowload the updates one at a time and try the games each time considering the number of updates, so is there anyone who might know which update is causing this trouble or anything else to do to repair this problem please.

    Regards,

    mario

    Hello mario,

It may not be any one update, but a combination and this may only happen on your system.

Having said that, are all these updates "criticals "?

Did you download a driver update? That would be the 1st suspect.

If not, one way to handle this is to start again and this time only install the criticals and to make some judgement about how pertinent each is to you - meaning the way you use the web and the risks you run and how robust your security is. The most important critical updates are the cumulative ones for IE, and you only need the last one.

I added to the your thread title.

    Regards - Charles

While waiting for a reply I decided to do another repair installation and start updating 5 updates at a time so I could take note of each update and check after installing, but funnily enough this time the problem remained  so for now I am still confused. No driver updates where made for these last six months and this delay (which is of about a second) only occurs while playing games.

    Hello Mario,

Games as a rule use a lot of RAM.

Are there some other processes running in the background that may also be using lots of RAM/Graphics?

Check your startups - this thread http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=39425 links to info on what can be on demand or not needed.

    Regards - Charles
